Coming Home

familyphoto.jpg

Rhae got to come home so much sooner than we ever thought!  I was sure she would be in the NICU for weeks and had planned on being in Birmingham until she came home.  She came home on 4/15/2008 when she was just 6 days old.  It was such a long trip home because I was so excited about bringing her home.  After all, she was going to meet her Aunt Mandy (Mae Mae) for the first time!  I think this was the most exciting part of it for me.  As excited as I was, I was also scared to death.  Rhae and I had gotten to room-in for 2 nights, but the nursery was always there if I needed them.  I didn't know what I would do if I got home and couldn't figure things out!  But, God is good and made sure that things went smoothly for us.  Actually, it was sort of strange how all of a sudden, things seemed so normal...normal in the sense that it was what we did everyday and wasn't what I thought.  Of course, Rhae wasn't near as bad as we expected either, so that made a huge difference.  I later found it funny that even when I picked up Halle, I would pick her up using the same technique I did for Rhae!  It just came natural.
Aidan was so excited when we got home, but honestly, I don't know if it was because Jay and I were home or because Rhae was finally home.  I guess it was a little of both.  It was so evident in the hospital that Rhae recognized Aidan's voice, and I think she was glad to be where he was.  What a beautiful, innocent relationship!  He adores her and she looks up at him with the most loving eyes.  I hope they'll always be this close!  (yeah right)
